Stuart Paine
Stuart is the EHSLC Professor of Pharmacometrics at the University of Nottingham School of Veterinary Medicine and Science. He obtained his BSc and PhD from University College London followed by post-doctoral fellowships at the Universities of Toronto and Cambridge. He then joined the Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) Division at AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals and spent 14 years discovering new drugs including the arterial anti-thrombotic drug known as Ticagrelor. Stuart then joined the Veterinary School at Nottingham in 2011 and has academic interests in understanding the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics (PK/PD) of therapeutic drugs and New Chemical Entities (NCEs). A significant area of focus is understanding the PK/PD of drugs used in the Horse/Greyhound and application to medication and doping control in sports competition.
