Laura E Fitzharris

Dr Laura Fitzharris is a veterinary surgeon and specialist in Equine Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation, with a keen interest in research. Her PhD research focused on the equine respiratory muscles in Thoroughbred racehorses, investigating their adaptation to training and developing the application of inspiratory muscle training, funded by the Horserace Betting Levy Board (HBLB). After working in private sports horse practice int the UK, Laura took a career break to play professional water polo in Spain. During this time Laura developed an interest in analysing the training data obtained from wearable devices worn by both human and equine athletes, using this information to assess performance and explore the role in injury prevention. Laura is now based in Australia, where she combines routine racehorse practice with referral sports medicine work, expert data analysis, and ongoing research.
